Introduction

I designed this website only for demonstration purposes; nothing on this website is meant to be accepted as real or usable information.

I decided to use the built-in Gutenberg block editor, and plugin Block Responsive – Make Editor Blocks Responsive Easily for device specific styling. The theme I chose is Kids-Toys-Store, and I also created a child theme.

I chose to add some CSS flare to the website because I think websites should be fun to use; however, the client ultimately determines the level of fun, and implementing a plain and simple design is easy enough. Sometimes clients are just not aware of the “fun” options, so it never hurts to present options.

I intentionally utilized the CMS for its built-in features, but I also added custom JavaScript and SASS files to handle more advanced features.

I chose not to spend any money on plugins; consequently, some functionality is only implied – such as buttons like email and submit form.

JavaScript Notes

• Taking into account the Header height when scrolling to an anchor element.
• The /adoption-process-details page has some functionality for the adoption form buttons.
• Added script to handle the Print Blog This button.
• Script to handle this Demo Notes modal (rather than using a plugin, since modals are simple).

Plugins Utilized

• Woocommerce – customized for a Wishlist rather than a Cart.
• Safe SVG – to upload svg files to the Media Library.
• WPForms – for forms.
• Duplicator – for backups.
• Redirection – to accommodate “wishlist” in place of “cart” in url.
• Query Loop Exclude Posts – to customize Related Posts list.
• Real Media Library (Free) – to organize images in custom folders.
• Block Responsive – Make Editor Blocks Responsive Easily – for mobile styling.
• Yoast SEO – to improve site SEO.

CSS Notes

• Using SCSS (added transpile in code using PHPSASS library) and loading appliable css files on page load – not loading all css every page.

Content Sources

• I utilized ChatGPT for the majority of the text content.
• I found free images on sites such as: freepik.com, pixabay.com.
• Some images were from my personal pictures, or from friends.

Conclusion
